Questions

Plain answers.

Thirty questions patients ask most, answered without promises. Each group links to its treatment page.

Do veneers damage your teeth?

Planned veneers remove a thin layer of enamel, often under half a millimetre, and sometimes none. The tooth underneath stays alive and healthy when the preparation is conservative and the gums are kept clean.

About this treatment

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Studies on porcelain veneers commonly report ten to fifteen years or more when they are bonded to enamel and the patient does not grind. Night guards and regular reviews extend that.

About this treatment

Will veneers look fake?

Veneers look artificial when they are too white, too thick or all the same shape. We design each tooth individually, keep translucency at the edges and match the shade to your face, not to a chart.

About this treatment

Does getting veneers hurt?

Preparation is done under local anaesthetic. Some sensitivity to cold for a few days afterward is normal and settles. Bonding itself is not painful.

About this treatment

How many visits do veneers take?

Usually three: consultation and design, preparation with temporaries, and bonding. Patients from abroad complete this in five to seven days.

About this treatment

What is the difference between veneers and composite bonding?

Composite is added directly to the tooth in one visit and costs less, but it stains and chips sooner. Porcelain is made in a laboratory, keeps its shade and lasts longer.

About this treatment

Is a dental implant painful?

Placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Expect mild soreness for two or three days, managed with ordinary painkillers.

About this treatment

How long does an implant take from start to finish?

Typically four to six months, because bone needs time to bond to the implant before the crown is fitted. Grafting adds a few months. Patients from abroad plan two trips.

About this treatment

What if I do not have enough bone?

Bone grafting and sinus lifts rebuild the area so an implant can be placed. This is routine in our clinic and is planned from the 3D scan.

About this treatment

How long do implants last?

With healthy gums and regular cleaning, implants commonly last decades. The crown on top may need replacing after ten to fifteen years of wear.

About this treatment

Can I replace a whole arch with implants?

Yes. A fixed full arch bridge is usually supported on four to six implants per jaw. We also offer implant-retained dentures that click in and out for cleaning.

About this treatment

Will I be without teeth during healing?

No. A temporary tooth, bridge or denture covers the gap while the implant heals.

About this treatment

Do all my teeth have to be removed?

Rarely. The aim of full mouth restoration is to keep every tooth that has a healthy root and enough structure. Only teeth that cannot be saved are replaced.

About this treatment

How long does full mouth restoration take?

Usually three to six months, longer if implants are part of the plan. Work is staged so you always have teeth to eat with.

About this treatment

Can old crowns from another clinic be redone?

Yes. Old crowns are removed, the tooth underneath is assessed and treated, and a new crown is made to fit the new bite.

About this treatment

What is a trial bite?

A temporary version of your new teeth, in acrylic or composite, worn for a few weeks so you can test chewing, speech and appearance before the final porcelain is made.

About this treatment

Is full mouth restoration painful?

Each stage is done under local anaesthetic. Longer appointments are broken with rests, and sedation can be discussed for anxious patients.

About this treatment

Can people see clear aligners?

At conversation distance most people do not notice them. Small tooth-coloured attachments are sometimes used and are more visible up close.

About this treatment

How long does aligner treatment take?

Mild cases take around six months, most cases twelve to eighteen. The plan on screen gives your estimate before you start.

About this treatment

Do aligners hurt?

A new tray feels tight for a day or two. This is the pressure that moves teeth and it fades quickly.

About this treatment

Can I follow treatment from abroad?

Yes. After the scan and first fitting, progress is checked with photographs sent on WhatsApp, with an in-person review when you are next in Cairo.

About this treatment

Will I need a retainer forever?

Teeth drift throughout life, so a retainer worn at night is recommended long term. A thin fixed wire behind the front teeth is an alternative.

About this treatment

Does whitening damage enamel?

Professional whitening used as directed does not remove or weaken enamel. Temporary sensitivity is the common side effect and settles within days.

About this treatment

How long does whitening last?

Usually one to three years depending on coffee, tea, smoking and home care. A short top-up with home trays restores the shade.

About this treatment

Does whitening work on crowns and fillings?

No. Porcelain and composite do not change shade. Visible fillings may need replacing after whitening to match the new colour.

About this treatment

How long does composite bonding last?

Typically five to seven years before it needs polishing or replacing. It can chip under heavy biting and stains more than porcelain.

About this treatment

Is a root canal painful?

Modern root canal treatment is done under full anaesthetic and relieves pain rather than causing it. Most are completed in one visit.

About this treatment

How do you handle infection control?

Infection control is one of the three things patients mention most in the clinic's Google reviews. Instruments and surfaces follow a written protocol that we will walk you through on your first visit.

About this treatment

At what age should a child first see a dentist?

Around the first birthday, or when the first teeth appear. Early visits are short and are mostly about getting comfortable.

About this treatment

What can be done about jaw clicking and TMJ pain?

Assessment of the bite and muscles comes first. A night splint, bite adjustment and habit changes resolve most cases without surgery.
